Transitioning from summer to fall in South Florida (and in the majority of the South for the matter) is often times a challenge for the trendsetting and stylish woman. It requires a certain subtle understanding of pairings and balance, and by this I simply mean mixing fall colors, weights, and textures of the new season pieces with lighter resort or summer staples. But this balancing act doesn't have to be complicated or terrifying; in truth it's the mark of possessing true style sensibility, and not just posing as a fashion copy cat.

And that is precisely why I have been so drawn to JORD Watches this season. JORD creates watches that are stunningly executed in both strength and durability, but their attention to delicate and eye catching detail make these timepieces standout with supreme style. JORD is made up of a team of artists and designers dedicated to sustainability and efficiency, but who are passionate about making sure your watch tells something much more than just the time. The watch I was drawn to the most this season is from their Kora series, which features a sturdy Hawaiian Coa wood band with a delicate rose gold and rhinestone detailed face. It's rugged and refined, elegant and edgy, and entirely modern. The watch glows just enough to look incredible with my ever growing blush uniform, and I've found that it's accessory that can work just as well at sunset cocktails as it does at my desk. I love how it pops off of any grey tone, and mixes with all metals when I create an arm stack. The watch face reminds me of vibrant October skies, and the wood band makes me dream of falling leaves and crisp air when the humidity here in Palm Beach is still stifling.

I can see this watch looking infinitely cool against any rust or umber tones (which is all I seem to be drawn to buying lately) and amazing against a rich tan and white bikini at the beach. Given that my JORD watch is quickly becoming a fall staple, I am so excited to be able partner with JORD in their October contest to offer one lucky winner a JORD watch of their own!

To enter, CLICK HERE and fill out your info with your watch preference. Contest runs through the weekend, but ENDS ON SUNDAY (as in THIS Sunday October 23rd) so head on over to their site HERE or check out their stunning instagram to see all the best styles. You can enter to win by clicking HERE .

Good Luck and leave me comment bellow if you enter!
I'd love to know your favorite style.

Can you see me checking the time? Is it really October already? Gosh, fall is really here I guess, and with it means crisp mornings marked by the smell of PSL's (that's Pumpkin Spice Lattes) falling leaves, and the challenge of what the heck to wear!?!?! With autumn's approach, layering is still going to be your best friend; helping you transition some of your summer wear into a fully functional fall outfit for work, and for play. But the standard go-to colors of yesteryear (ie cream, grey, brown, and black) are taking a back seat this season to a warmer set of tones and textures...

Shop the Post

This year it's all about what I like to call the "New Neutrals." You know! Those blushing, rusted, coppery, and golden rose colors you keep seeing EVERYWHERE online and in the stores, where every blouse, sweater, dress, and accessory comes in it. Well, when you finally do get around to trying it on, let me tell you: you're gonna be amazed at how those fading summer streaks suddenly pop and your skin gets it's color back. For me this month is going to be all about blush rust or bust baby.

So why do I love this new neutral trend so much? It's really all about the luxurious effect layering these tones creates when paired correctly. If you see above the blush shirt dress I'm wearing is used as a base, grounding the multiple layers of the outfit. Before this season I might have thought this dress was clearly a statement piece, meant to be paired with quieter pieces, maybe just creams and ivories, and put away after spring and summer ends. Instead, I'm thinking THIS LBD is just as good as my old LBD, so why not dress it up like I always would a little black dress?

Metallic details and accessories are extremely in this season, so I've take two thin metallic belts and created intrigue and light at the waistline (remember that metallics should always be highlighting a drawing attention to your best features, or the feature(s) you feel most confident about. I've chosen all rose gold accessories (jewelry and clutch) to further enforce the sophisticated take on the pink palette.
For the shoes and shades, I've gone for rust, choosing to anchor the look at the head and toe line with a deep tone, which works given my light summer sun kissed hair. This outfit stands alone nicely, but it really comes together when the camel robe style coat is added. My camel coat happens to have a particular hint of metallic copper in the lining that when the fall breeze catches it, creates a moment worthy of any photog's lens: it's sheer street style magic and effortless elegance on point.
I hope you all will experiment with these New Neutrals and find which tones work best for you.

Shop some of my favorite blush, rust, and rose gold pieces bellow to get you started, and as always leave me a comment bellow and let me know if you' plan to try out some of these new neutrals? Have you been experimenting already? What do you like? Dislike? I love hearing from you all, so thank you for all the emails, DM's, and notes. I try to get to all of them as best I can!

Check-it ✔️ (sorry, bad Ali-G reference) Before we dive into NYFW, back to school style, and seasonal office fashion, I wanted to kick off my return to the blog with a post that can truly help all of you my amazing female followers. So let's get right to it!

Breast Cancer. I'm sure it's no news and no shock to you that Breast Cancer is infecting more young women than ever before. Did you know that 40% of all breast cancers are discovered by the patient herself? So isn't time that we REALLY start talking about Breast Self-Check exams? The answer is not just "Yes" but "OF COURSE!"

Both my mother and grandmother are breast cancer survivors. Neither carry the breast cancer gene and had different types of invasive breast cancer. But even a benign family history doesn't mean you're not at risk...

LADIES : 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop *invasive* breast cancer in her lifetime.

Let that sink in. We are at epidemic levels when it comes to breast cancer among women in this country, and it's not long before it becomes world wide. So, what can we do...

Literally, "Check Yourself Ma'am!"

Like giving my dogs their flea and tick medication, on the same day of every month I give myself a breast self-check exam. It takes only a minute in the morning, while you are waking up showering, and brushing your teeth. Why do you want to do this? A self-check every month helps you establish a base line, and allows you to educate yourself should anything look, feel, or seem different than the last time you checked. Education is so important ladies because as we all know, early detection saves lives. As I said before, over 40% of breast cancers are now detected by women at home first. It's time we spread the word.

Wondering what a breast self check exam means?
Click here to find out how to do a breast self exam correctly. The few easy steps are diagramed, demonstrated, and explained very well HERE and it's a good reminder for us all at any age and stage.

AND if you are truly impassioned and feeling like doing something to help, I've got a small favor to ask of you: Head over to www.seezona.com and sign up to use their amazing new fashion-finding shopping site. Ever snapped a picture of a piece of clothing you love, or screen shotted a look on pinterest desperate to find out where to get it? Seezona has developed an amazing new tool that allows you to upload that picture, and receive tons of matches for the look you want to find! And then you can shop it right then and there. The technology is really great and the team at Seezona is amazing. All they are asking you to do is provide your name and email, or sign in with one click via Facebook, and for every person that signs up, Seezona will donate funds to aide Breast Cancer Research. We want to reach our goal of raising 100,000 Euros for this campaign, so please consider signing up and spreading the word to all the wonderful women in your lives.

So tonight ladies... you got it: CHECK YOURSELF MA'AM
It could be the most important thing you ever do.

The Case for the Combat Boot

There is nothing I love more than a great boot. And when fall is in full swing, I can't help but crave the fresh smell of leather and laces wafting through the internet air. This season I am still sporting the moto chic carry over trend from last fall. In fact I've found that every fall I always gravitate towards some form of military boot as it is consistently something I want to put on on chilly mornings to battle the city streets but still look chic. This season I've fallen in love with the moto-military hybrid that is the Combat Boot. I'm not talking about the Dr Martens 90s combat boot (which you can actually still find here) but the glammed up, sexed up combat style ankle boots that are truly trend setting. These boots scream strong and whisper sophistication, which is just my style. In my combat boot guide bellow you'll find key lace and buckle detailing, beautiful leather lines, slender fits, stylized souls, and stacked heels. Not only is this trend edgy, crisp, and fun but it's extremely comfortable and exceedingly practical for your everyday outfits of the day.

Poncho Please Me: Late Night Steal with Nordstrom

ponchos under $50 poncho

Wednesday nights are rather sacred in my house. To get over the hump and avoid a mid week exhaustion melt down, I'll cook a meal that requires a little extra effort, creativity and time, because believe it or not this does relax me. Afterwards I'll take that sense of accomplishment, along with a sizable glass of red wine, Olivia Pope style, with me to the comfy seat at my computer, and shop!

Evening shopping at home is probably my favorite modern luxury. When I was in college in NYC, I always remember being the last one let out of Bloomingdales around 915pm on Wednesdays. After the doors had locked and the store was closing was always my favorite time to shop: quiet and empty, and with a real sense of immediacy in the air- you just had to make a decision and quick. Night shopping is a lot like getting dressed for a big night out actually: think about it, the adrenaline to find and choose the right thing, only in the biggest and best closet of your dreams. Well, that was at least until online shopping came along and took off. I still shop after close of business, just now from the comfort of my favorite reading chair and without any store guard or shop assistant hurrying me to log out and leave...

And so for this premiere addition of #WhatI'mCravingWednesday, I'm sharing my latest
Affordable Editorial Poncho finds from Nordstrom
(all of which are UNDER $50)

There's a slight chill in the air this week, and it's time to take layering seriously. Seriously! This fall is all, and I do mean ALL, about the poncho, a trend that is oh so comfy and cool, and one that helps you easily tie together any look instantly. And the best part? You don't have to spend a fortune to do so. And with Nordstrom's 40% off new markdowns that hit today, I'm sure you can now snag two for virtually the price of one! Because night shopping, like night swimming... is always a girl's good idea.

Time to IN-VEST in A Vest

Fall Trend Alert: time to invest in a long vest!

There is nothing I love more than a tailored topper. Whether it be a winter coat or the perfect weight blazer, the long lines of a classic silhouette make any and every body type look statuesque and sophisticated. This season the tailored topper gets a facelift in the form of a long vest, and it's an excellent improvement. Vests naturally lend themselves to layering (an important dressing technique to master especially when transitioning from one season to another). Layering can take you from day to night, office to dinner, and street-style to lunch style in those chilly months we all have loved to forget.
With all this is mind, the long vest is an incredibly wise piece to purchase for fall. You can begin pairing it with some summer weight staples: a great floral blouse and light pencil skirt that looked perfect at the office throughout the summer months gets an instant refresher when topped by a cream or neutral long lined vest. Switch the open toe for pumps or sling backs, and as the weather turns start rocking a warm toned leather or suede boot, that is before it's time to swap the blouse for a chunky knit and dare I say snow boots!

Weekend wear also gets a chic facelift with the addition of the long vest. Try taking one of last season's monochrome looks: black leather pants, booties, a crop top or black T and popping an olive or grey vest over your shoulders. You can also extend the life of your summer white jeans (as seen above) by pairing them with fall tones and even a light weight turtle neck. The turtle neck is actually the most elegant base for the long vest look as it extends the neck line in the absence of a collar. It's also practical as the temps cool down and the late fall wind picks up And don't be afraid to mix! Try the vest on with soft sneakers and your favorite skinny jeans for a Saturday shopping trip, and go wild into the 70s trend with a neck tie blouse and denim flares or a fluted maxi skirt topped with a textured or even faux fur vest for a fall night out. The possibilities are endless and the price tags if you know where to look that is (BELLOW) surprisingly friendly!

Why It's Time to Invest in a Classic: My Roadtrip with Ralph Lauren's Ricky

On the road again! What else is new? Labor Day and Fashion Month have hit so it's time to rev up those fall engines and get going. But first let's talk strategy here for a minute. Style strategy, that is. You hear me me talking constantly about the Affordable Editorial Solution: the art of mixing high and low items to create a truly couture and catalogue worthy look for less. I scour the internet, stores, and showrooms finding the best "knock off" versions of this season's "it" items and share them here, stressing the importance of color choice, layering textures, hem lines, tailoring, and above all styling. But one key component of building the perfect Affordable Editorial wardrobe, one that will make you look like a magazine editor every morning you hit the sidewalk, is having what I call a "Collection of Classics". This is a base line selection of pieces that are so beautifully well made that they will hold up over the years no matter how much you wear them (and this is key because my gosh do you wear them).
A classic and investment-worthy piece is something that is not just "timeless" but that is timeless TO YOU. I am sure you've read countless articles on "the-(insert number)-best-investment-worthy-pieces-to-take-out-a-mortage-to-snag-this-season" but this is not what I am talking about. Building a Collection of Classics takes a little time and is something you revel in the process and enjoy curating. As you collect and wear your pieces, you will actually remember the story behind each piece, what occasion you bought yourself those Chloe sunglasses for, the afternoon you and your best friend found that small vintage shop and discovered a set of 1970s Balmain pearl and diamond earrings, or that rainy birthday your mother and you got lost in Paris for hours after she bought you your first black Dior handbag. Punished clearly for being so spoiled...worth it!
Or maybe it's the beautiful box full of vintage Hermes and Cartier scarves your grandmother dropped off the day after you moved into your first apartment that have basically provided the perfect accessory to countless important outfits for your entire style career. (You can see one of my favorite Cartier scarves my grandmother gave me featured above)

So how do you do it? Where does a Collection of Classics start? How do you begin? And what about the upfront cost to buy something new that may or may not BE a classic?
The answer is simple: luxury pre-owned.

When it comes to luxury items, things like fashion and classic cars, the Luxury Pre-Owned market is the best place to start out discovering what it is you like, and what has stood the test of time value and quality wise. And because these items are preowned, but preciously cared for, they are priced lower than the brand new version. Now you're wondering: how on earth you can insure the quality and condition of a piece, especially if you are buying it online because that's where the largest selection of luxury goods are right at your fingertips.
Enter Trendlee. THE online one-stop-shop for finding the best luxury pre-owned handbags. Trendlee has a constant stream of new bags that are meticulously selected for sale, and independently verified as authentic and in peak condition. They also offer free returns if for any reason you are not satisfied, and ship worldwide. But that's not even the best part: Trendlee is now a pioneer in the luxury pre-owned fashion market offering easy financing through their partnership with Affirm so you can split and spread your payments out to make it more affordable and manageable to start collecting. For anyone with a monthly paycheck...ie EVERYONE, this is finally the fashion world giving us something accessible and practical!
SO, when given the opportunity to take a look through Trendlee's collection, I already knew the bag I wanted to add to my Collection of Classics. Ralph Lauren's Ricky tote hit the market several years back with clean classic lines, top quality leather, and strong and iconic hardware (much like their horse bit buckle belt which I sprang for 6 years ago and never literally NEVER travel without). So why this bag? For me it is a symbol of the all american woman TODAY: the tote in all it's sizes is extremely practical, it is masculine yet also feminine, can be dressed up or down, worn as a fashionable cross body bag, or draped with a scarf and taken out on the town in the evenings. I know the bag craftsmanship will have held up through wearings already and will only continue to look in prime condition. It has the ever EVER important metal feet on the bottom of the bag, which prevents wear and tear on the soft leather bottom, and allows me to briefly set it down on the carpet at lunch or on the floor of a meeting. And then there's the color... the classic black leather with the bold red stripe. This is an emotional decision on my part: something about that red stripe down the center just makes me smile. It evidently screams confidence, but in a beautifully strong way because the tone of red is just that perfect.

In true Affordable Editorial style, I've paired the Ricky above with my faux black leather jacket of the moment (I find one each season because I wear them so much, and haven't found the right "investment level" one to add to my Collection of Classics) This Design History jacket is a bomber style with floral laser cut details, which adds a little femininity to the powerful lines and hardware of the Ricky tote. It's all about the play really: I like to look at and construct outfits the same way I read a painting and visually work through a great piece of art. This must come from my years as an Art History student and in the NY Art Scene while working for Sotheby's, but nevertheless the comparisons hold true: when you stand in front of the mirror in the morning, you are a living moving blank canvas. The colors and pieces you choose, no matter what you are getting dressed for, all need to come together on the page and reflect what you are trying to say and convey. And if you think you aren't really trying to say anything with your clothes, then you are making the first mistake because your style and how you present yourself is the first thing anyone will notice, see, and think about you. So go forth, be confident, be classic, be conscious, and be you.
If you dress it, it will come.
Dress The Part.
